Microsoft stops technical support for Exchange Server 2016 & Exchange 2019

For those who have been “extracting the maximum value” from their Microsoft exchange server, please note that after 14 October 2025, Microsoft will no longer provide technical support for problems that may occur with Exchange Server 2016 or Exchange Server 2019 including:

  • Technical support for problems
  • Bug fixes for issues that may impact the stability and usability of the server
  • Security fixes for vulnerabilities that may make the server vulnerable to security breaches
  • Time zone updates

Risks of staying on an unsupported version include:

  • Functionality limits: Failing to update Exchange Server can cause you to miss out on new functionality that could improve your team’s productivity and collaboration.
  • Security breaches: End-of-life means you’ll no longer be receiving security updates. This leaves your environment vulnerable to attack from hackers who will be looking for companies that have fallen behind.
  • Compliance issues: If you’ve got regulators, they’ll be looking for proof that you’re following modern security standards.
